Being a Servant Leader

“Being a Servant Leader” – To be a servant leader we must first recognize our spiritual leader, Christ, the example and then we should realize that He came to show us how to lead. We will study what respected leaders say and do to become effective servant leaders.

  • Servant-leadership implies that one who leads must first be a servant to others – their employees, customers and/or the community.
  • Important characteristics include listening, empathy, healing, persuasion, awareness, foresight, conceptualization, and commitment to other’s growth and development (Greenleaf, 1991).
  • Servant leadership is a privilege provided by God. Being a servant leader means following in the footsteps of Jesus. ( Dr. Pamela C. Forbes)
